Exciting News! The Muddy Awards 2025 are back, celebrating outstanding businesses that go above and beyond across the region – and we’re absolutely delighted that The Rising Sun has been nominated for ‘Best Destination Pub’!

Dating back to the 17th century, our historic Grade II listed coaching inn stands as Reading’s oldest pub, steeped in tales and legacies. Surrounded by history with the Abbey only a few minutes walk, the building itself is famous for being the pub with an ancient ‘Norman arch’ door. Oozing with charm, the garden is a shining feature of The Rising Sun, with a number of decorated pergolas, a colourful shepherds hut bar and eight elegantly designed and heated dining pods.
