Our General Manager Ben and his team invite you to the Rising Sun Welcome Week, celebrating the history of Reading and our historic pub from 25th-30th June. So what’s the plan we hear you say? Five days of festivities, from live music to biscuit decorating, here’s what’s on tap!
Grand Opening – Tuesday 25th June
Be one of the first to come and say hello when we officially open our doors from 12pm! Explore our gorgeous garden with its heated cabanas, shepherds hut bar and more or take a peek inside and see how we’ve restored one of the oldest pubs in Reading to its former glory.
Why not stay for the Euros?
Beer Tasting – Thursday 27th June 5.30pm to 7.30pm
We’ve teamed up with Loddon Brewery to host a tasting in the garden (weather permitting!). Meet the brewer and find out everything there is to know about this local brewery between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. You’ll also find them on draft at the bar as our guest beer!
Live Music – Friday 28th June 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Wind down from work and celebrate summer in our garden with live music and a lovely welcome from our friendly team. We can’t wait – for the weekend to begin!
Crumbs! – Sunday 30th June 10.30am to 11.30am
SOLD OUT! Little ones can join us for a biscuit decorating workshop hosted by our friends from The Funky Cookie Company. The perfect weekend activity to keep them occupied and why not stay on for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings!

Football Fever!
We’ll be showing the Euros matches in our newly renovated bar. Secure your spot by speaking to a member of the team and catch all the action from the tournament with your friends or colleagues.
We’re barking mad about dogs!
We are dog-friendly and welcome dogs in the garden and the bar area. There are water bowls for your thirsty four-legged friends and they can even enjoy their own gourmet menu courtesy of Sir Woofchester’s. Your canine companion can tuck into a tasty ‘fish and chips’ or a ‘roast dinner’.
